This afternoon's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Brighton And Wolverhampton...
We start at Brighton with today's negative in the 14:00 Maiden over 7f. Burmese Whisper has drifted from 4.84/1 out to 5.85/1 and due to his price is recommended as a place lay, where he is currently available at 1.981/1. Unconvincing on heavy ground last time out at Epsom, he also faded tamely at this course and over this distance a month ago having lead for most of the race. We fancy the trip will again be a step too far and he will fail to place.
We remain at Brighton for today's first positive in the 14:30 Handicap over 1m 2f. Selection Rebel Smile has seen steadily support this morning backed from a high of 8.69 in to 6.86/1. Banging on the door of late, having placed on two of her last three starts, and with a slow start costing her a place in the other, we feel today's weak field offers the chance to put her maiden status to bed. A further historical positive is that her trainer Mark Usher took this race with a maiden back in 2012.
Now we head over to Wolverhampton for today's second positive in the 16:10 Handicap over 1m 4f. Selection Malimbi has seen significant money this morning halving in price from 6.54 in to 3.211/5. The form reads well: a winner at Nottingham in July and not disgraced when third last time out there in August. Therefore with the withdrawal of prominent rivals Fanny Again and Le Torrent, we feel he has the winning of this race.
Place Lay Burmese Whisper at 1.981/1 in the 14:00 at Brighton
Back Rebel Smile at 6.86/1 in the 14:30 at Brighton
Back Malimbi at 3.211/5 in the 16:10 at Wolverhampton
