Welcome to today's Follow The Money from the meetings at Fakenham, Haydock and Wincanton...
Firstly is our lay of the day, Katgary which runs in the 14:50 Novice Chase at Fakenham. He has taken a walk out to 3.185/40 from an initial price of 2.69, and the five-year-old gelding is chasing for only the second time after having shown a fair amount of promise over hurdles. However he did disappoint last time out in a class one event at Aintree In April, so we feel confident laying him today as the market principle Hammersly Lake will certainly take some beating, with his owner Nicky Henderson boasting a superb 57% win record at the track.
Next up we are off to Haydock for our first positive. Here we are going to back Navajo War Dance in the 15:10 Maiden Stakes, who has been well supported in to 2.747/4 from 3.65. This two year old colt's best runs to date have come on soft ground so it will be interesting to see how he goes on good-to-soft today. With the weight of money behind him we feel he has a very strong chance to get out of maiden company over his preferred distance of one mile.
Finally we head south to Wincanton for our second positive in the 15:35 where we are going to recommend backing Regulation. Having been steadily supported in from 5.77 to a current price of 4.67/2, we think this Neil King-trained gelding will enjoy today's good to firm ground. He has done all his best work on firmer ground in recent times and all of his hurdle wins have come over two miles. With that in mind todays conditions should suit perfectly and with Richard Johnson in the saddle there are plenty of reasons to be positive about his chances.
