Lay Don’t Call Me @ 2.1211/10 in the 15:25 at Beverley
Back Algonquin @ 9.617/2 in the 16:50 at the Curragh

Our first selection runs in Goodwood's 15:05. We've seen sustained support for Sir Michael Stoute's Peterhof, who has been backed in from 3.052/1 to 2.6613/8. This lightly-raced colt won his only start as a two year old impressively and has run well in his two handicap starts this term. The pick was arguably his last run at Newmarket over today's trip where he wasn't beaten far by Godolphin's Space Age, a horse that went on to pick up a valuable handicap at Royal Ascot. The ground is an unknown, however he is back from a three month break so should be fresh and fit. With his main rival Pyjama Party declared a non-runner this is an ideal opportunity for Peterhof to get back to winning ways.

Today's lay selection runs at Beverley. Don't Call Me has been easy to back this morning in the 15:25, a claimer over seven furlongs. Matched as low as 1.814/5, Dandy Nicholls' gelding is now available to back at 2.1211/10. On official ratings and on these terms he should win this doing cart-wheels so the drift is a bit puzzling. But maybe he's not the force he once was and the fact that he's winless in thirteen runs since scoring last August means punters are deserting him today. What's more, there's a few horses to take him on with here. His stablemate Laylas Hero picked up a similar race last time out and we have seen a bit of support for Richard Fahey's Zaza Vest, too. With this in mind a lay on Don't Call Me at a relatively low liability is the call here.

There's some great racing at the Curragh today and there's been some interesting money for Algonquin in the Irish Cambridgeshire at 16:50. Matched as high as 12.13, the Jim Bolger-trained colt has since been backed into 9.617/2. This tough three year old has won four in a row and has picked up some decent scalps on the way, namely Ger Lyons's well regarded Sacrificial, and Devonshire last time out at Killarney. The latter wasn't beaten far in the Irish 1000 Guineas - third behind Pleascach, a filly who subsequently went on to win the Yorkshire Oaks. He's stayed further than today's mile trip and will need to today on very testing ground. Algonquin looks like the class horse in the race though and we think it's worth having a few shillings on him this afternoon.
