Brighton serves up today's lay and each-way bet

Today's movers come from the meetings at Hamilton and Brighton.

"The market support suggests that the combination of a drop back to 1m, with the low handicap mark, and the debut for a new yard, could be what's needed for Perfect Orange to gain her first success."

We start the day at Hamilton with the first positive in the 14:00 6f Novice Stakes, where Alfies Angel has been strongly supported in to 2.427/5 from a high of 3.3512/5. This two-year-old by Dark Angel shaped with promise at Carlisle earlier this month on his only start so far, where he was beaten a length into third place. Bryan Smart's runner was finishing strongly at the end after running green to begin with, and today's race should see him show the improvement needed to get off the mark at the second time of asking.

Heading to Brighton for the negative of the day, in the 16:15 1m4f Handicap Palisade has drifted out to 4.47/2 from a low of 3.412/5. Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-old has taken things steady so far in his career, being unplaced in his first five starts. This gelding by Fastnet Rock did show some form on his most recent start at Carlisle earlier this month where he finished second over 1m3f. However, in this race he was a beaten favourite and connections were trying out a first time visor, which is on again today, he has also gone up 1lb and he didn't run as if the extra furlong would suit, making Palisade worth taking on at 4.3100/30 today.

Staying at Brighton for our each-way back, where there has been money coming in from big prices for Perfect Orange in the 16:45 1m Handicap, in to 15.014/1 from a high of 34.83. This four-year-old is having her first start for Lucy Wadham having been unsuccessful for Marcus Tregoning, finishing placed at best. Returning from a break, this filly by Sir Percy has had a drop in the handicap after struggling over 1m2f-1m4f in the later part of last year. The market support suggests that the combination of a drop back to 1m, with the low handicap mark, and the debut for a new yard, could be what's needed for Perfect Orange to gain her first success.
