It's Gowran Park's biggest day of the season as the Thyestes Chase takes centre stage, and it's to Ireland we go for all three of today's Follow The Money selections...
We start today's Follow The Money with our back selection in the 13:50 at Gowran Park, the Galmoy Hurdle. A small but intriguing contest sees Clondaw Warrior, Snow Falcon and Shaneshill renew their rivalry after fighting out the finish of the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown a month ago. The runner up that day Clondaw Warrior is easy to back and has drifted from 2.111/10 out to 2.3411/8. The one that has seen some support is Clondaw Warrior's stablemate Shaneshill. Last year's RSA runner up has some good form over the smaller obstacles and was unlucky when coming down at the last when in contention last time out. The Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old has been backed from 4.03/1 in to 3.55.
Our each-way selection comes in today's feature race, the 15:00 at Gowran Park. The Thyestes Chase is one of the feature handicaps of the Irish National Hunt season and this year looks on paper to be a very strong renewal. The horse that has come in for good each-way support is the Noel Meade-trained Bonny Kate. A satisfactory seasonal reappearance in the Troytown where she finished five lengths behind the extremely impressive Empire of Dirt. She will have come on for that run and has only been raised 3lbs for that effort. Meade's stable is starting to hit form and had the valuable winner of a big handicap hurdle last weekend. She has been backed in from 12.011/1 to 10.5019/2 and we recommend an each-way bet at that price.
Our lay selection comes in the 15:35 at Gowran Park, a good beginner's chase where we see last year's Cheltenham Festival winner Mall Dini try to get off the mark over fences. While the Patrick Kelly stable star has ran well over fences to date, one can't but be a little disappointed that he hasn't got off the mark. He has been friendless in the market which has seen him drift from 3.259/4 to 3.613/5. The horse appears to need further than today's trip and seems to come alive with spring ground, something he won't get today. General Principle and Dicosimo make this a hot race as punters have looked for an alternative to the jollie. We see this drift continuing and recommend laying Mall Dini at 3.613/5
Back Shaneshill @ 3.7511/4 in the 13:50 Gowran Park
Back Bonny Kate each way @ 10.519/2 in the 15:00 Gowran Park
Lay Mall Dini @ 3.613/5 in the 15:35 Gowran Park
