Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Ayr and Lingfield...
We start at Ayr in the 13:15 3m1f Novices Handicap Chase, where Line Daois has come in from 4.57/2 to around 3.45. The selection ran well on his chase debut earlier this month and is expected to relish this extra trip. The feeling is there's more to come from Michael Scudamore's runner who has now switched to a handicap. He's a dual bumper winner who has won on soft over hurdles and a back bet is advised.
Staying at Ayr and the 13:45 2m Novice Hurdlefor our lay of the day, Nicky Henderson's Quiet Candid, who has been drifting all morning from 1.9720/21 now out to 2.588/5. Her win at Towcester possibly flattered her as the odds on favourite who she beat was well below par that day. She's not been out for nine weeks since that win and it seems this has concerned the market. Her form in bumpers was nothing but ordinary and we feel she's worth taking on at a short price.
Finally to Lingfield for the 15:10 7f Handicap where there is over £28,000 up for grabs to the winner so it's going to be competitive. But if Grey Mirage can bounce back to the form he showed this time last year then he'll be the one to beat and the market agrees - backed in to 5.85/1 from 7.613/2. A winner over C&D here last year off 1lb higher and back to his ideal trip, the selection has a good draw, cheek pieces back on (worn on his last two wins) and is ridden by Martin Harley who has partnered him to victory before. All this points to a positive display today and a back at a decent price is the call.
