Friday's Follow The Money comes from the afternoon meetings at Cartmel, Doncaster and Wolverhampton...
Our first selection comes in the 14:10 Cartmel Maiden Hurdle over 2m6f, where the Jennie Candlish-trained Bryden Boy has been well supported from 4.47/2 in to 3.39/4. He posted his best effort yet when third in a handicap last time out at Uttoxeter, with the form of that race being franked with the horses in second and fifth both winning last time out. The market suggests that this eight-time raced maiden might just get his head in front for the first time.
Our other back bet comes at the 15:00 Doncaster 1m Handicap race, where the Ed McMahon-trained gelding Rocket Ronnie has been supported from a high of 3.8514/5 in to 2.8815/8. The last time McMahon booked Ryan Moore in the saddle it was at Haydock when the Betfair Ambassador gave Express Himself a great ride to win. The Staffordshire-based handler has since saddled two winners at Leicester and Chepstow, proving that his horses are in good condition. With the significant market support, the positive jockey booking and a drop in 6lb from his last winning mark, Rocket Ronnie has a great chance to build on recent efforts.
The lay selection comes in the 15:20 Wolverhampton 7f Handicap where Peril has been negative in the market, drifting from 2.915/8 out to 3.613/5. The gelding is running for the first time for Simon Crisford after being trained by Lady Cecil. Peril has shown some decent form in maidens and he has now been dropped in trip for his handicap and seasonal debut after a 254 day break. Race fitness has to be taken on trust and with other horses in the race being well backed, we are happy to oppose.
