Today's Follow the Money comes from Navan, Towcester and Exeter
"Xaarcet loves the soft ground and is very well handicapped if staging a revival - the money says it happens today."
Our first back of the day runs in the 12:55 2m 4f novice hurdle at Navan after strong support for Free Expression who has moved in from 4.1 to 2.77/4. This highly-promising Gordon Elliott-trained five-year-old has improved with each run while winning his last three races. This is tougher but we expect Free Expression to take this in his stride. The market rival Martello Tower has won his last two races and will make a race of it. We see this as the only danger.
Our lay of the day runs in the 15:15 2m handicap Chase at Towcester. The Seamus Mullins-trained The Informant has drifted from 2.915/8 out to 3.185/40. Although The Informant has won in the mud, he has shown better form on a sounder surface. Last time out at Fontwell, the gelding jumped poorly and weakened quickly two out. The punishing mile-long uphill finish at Towcester will test any horse and the soft ground will make this a proper stamina test. We have two alternatives Wicklewood and Grand Article running for us, who both finish their races well and will be staying on strongly on the run in. We make The Informant our lay at the prices.
Our second back of the day is in the 16:05 2m 1f handicap Hurdle at Exeter. The Colin Tizzard trained Xaarcet has been backed from 5.95/1 in to 4.03/1. Xaarcet has been out of sorts over fences and hurdles last season and has been absent since tried in blinkers (now removed) in March. Loves the soft ground and is very well handicapped if staging a revival - the money says it happens today.
