Follow The Money: Two to back at Exeter, one to lay at Towcester

We start with hurdles action at Exeter

Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings Exeter and Towcester

"Today's step up in trip should suit Long John and the form of his last run is working out well, so he looks a great value back."

Back Long John @ 10.519/2 in the 13:35 at Exeter

We start at Exeter where Long John has been heavily supported in the 13:35 2m7f Handicap Hurdle, moving from a high of 20.35 all the way into 10.519/2. Still a maiden, Jackie Du Plessis's gelding makes his handicap debut today after some creditable efforts in Novice Company. His last appearance was over 2 miles in April when second to useful hurdler Royal Guardsman, though beaten by 15 lengths he stayed on strongly and the two horses immediately behind have subsequently won. Today's step up in trip should suit and the form of his last run is working out well, so he looks a great value back.

We stay at Exeter for our second back of the day - Notarfbad, who has been backed from 8.415/2 in to 4.67/2 to win the 15:05 2m1f handicap chase. Formerly a very smart hurdler, Jeremy Scott's charge has made a consistent start to his chasing career, only finishing out of the frame over fences in his last run at Ascot. He can be forgiven for that run however, as the opposition was far tougher and he seemed to lose momentum when slightly hampered turning in. Reunited with Richard Johnson, who steered the horse to victory at Newton Abbot two runs back, and the horse's form being "Notarfbad" the money would suggest he'll take a bit of beating today.

Finally, we switch to Towcester for today's lay, where So Oscar has been on the drift in the 15:45. Matched as low as 1.9210/11 So Oscar has been forced all the way out to 2.89/5 (and even matched as high as 3.55/2). The horse had just moderate bumper form in Ireland last season, looking one-paced in two big defeats, and will be vulnerable we any horse with bit of toe. With so many unknown debutants in the race, the clear lack of support on his first run for his new yard doesn't look good.  For us, the likely winner is the well-bred Chicoria, who makes his debut for Henry Daly and Trevor Hemmings.
