Today's Follow The Money comes from the meeting's at Fontwell and Towcester...

"Our final back comes in the form of Speedy Bruere in the 15:00 at Towcester. Opening up at 5.04/1 his price has contracted steadily in to 3.613/5 favourite. The David Bridgwater-trained gelding ran a good race in defeat when six lengths behind Sew On Target at Sandown and appears to have been aimed at this race having won this very same contest easily by 11 lengths last year."

We kick things off with our recommended lay bet, which today is Benvolio in the 14:10 at Fontwell. Having been odds on earlier this morning at around 1.834/5, he is now odds against at 2.166/5. Having won two of his four starts over fences he was very disappointing last time out when he stepped up to Grade 1 company. He was pushed along a long way, finishing eventually 42 lengths last of three behind winner Oscar Whisky. He steps down in grade here and cheek pieces have been applied for the first time but he will need to bounce back to somewhere near his best form if he is to contend with the well backed Lamb Or Cod or indeed the steady in the market Via Sundown. Lamb Or Cod is the interesting opposition as a new recruit to the chasing scene, his jumping will need to improve since his first run over fences but the market support would suggest that improvement is expected. With all these factors in mind, Benvolio looks a very tempting lay at a short price.

Our first recommended back is the very well-supported Fidelor in the 14:30 at Towcester. Backed from a high of 15.5 he has come all the way in to 7.87/1. Although he has not won for a long time his mark is tumbling and he races today off of 92, which is his lowest mark in a long time. Alex Hales' yard is in fairly good order at the moment and it is interesting that blinkers are added today for the first time to possibly help aid the horse's concentration. He is a prominent runner and may well get the run of things in this race and the ground should not be an issue having finished second on heavy ground in Huntingdon in January. The money has certainly come for him and being still at a fairly large price he is a very tempting proposition.

Our final back comes in the form of Speedy Bruere in the 15:00 at Towcester. Opening up at 5.04/1 his price has contracted steadily in to 3.613/5 favourite. The David Bridgwater-trained gelding ran a good race in defeat when six lengths behind Sew On Target at Sandown and appears to have been aimed at this race having won this very same contest easily by 11 lengths last year. Running off of 117 today which is his previous winning mark, today's jockey Jake Hodson claims a valuable 7lb to essentially bring his mark down to 110, the same mark that he won this race from last year. All the signs are positive and with the money coming for him he is hard to overlook, and especially at what could be made to look quite a generous price.
