This afternoon's follow the money comes from the meetings at Bath and Kempton...
We head first to Bath and the opener the 13:30 over 5.5f. Selection Flicksta is fancied to reverse Thursday's form at Brighton where he finished a distant third behind heavily odds-on Quickaswecan and today's rival Black Rodded. Steady support this morning has seen his price contract from a high of 8.615/2 this morning into the current 6.25/1. A model of consistency having made the frame in all six of his starts we feel today is his day to lose the maiden status, with the slight drop in trip likely to suit, as having led last time out he weakened a furlong out.
We remain in Bath for our second selection, and more specifically the 14:00 over 5f. In this sprint we can't see beyond odds-on favourite Charles Molson with heavy support this morning seeing his price drop from this morning's 2.0421/20 in to the current 1.784/5. In this weak maiden his impressive 2nd at Kempton last time out stands out as the pick of the form and his price reflects that. Despite not having a clear run that day he still pushed the winner to the death and was unlucky to be held.
Over to Kempton and today's lay in the 16:25 Listed Hurdle over 2 miles. Selection Rock on Ruby has proved easy to back drifting from 2.526/4 first thing to the currently available 3.1511/5. She is a slow burner and needed a run last season before peaking at the right time and pushing Hurricane Fly all the way at Cheltenham. We feel history will repeat itself and she will need the run and odds-on favourite The New One will prove too strong for her today. The Champion Hurdle prospect has won on his seasonal return in his previous two seasons and should have the measure of our selection.
