Follow The Money: Rasa to show who is the man at Newcastle today

Will the FTM team get a winner at Newcastle today?

With a plethora of meetings to consider, the Follow The Money team have come up with three selections from Newcastle and Ripon this afternoon...

Back Haafaguinea @ 5.04/1 16:10 Ripon

Lay Endless Light @ 2.245/4 16:45 Ripon

Back Rasaman @ 7.87/1 17:45 Newcatle

Our First back of the day arrives in the shape of Haafaguinea who runs in the 16:10 at Ripon. The Clive Cox trained 3yo has been backed from a high of 9.417/2 in to 5.04/1. The colt is having his third run of the season today on the back of a promising run at Glorious Goodwood, despite being badly drawn that day. He's been dropped 1lb after that run and is still considered to be very un-exposed. With conditions likely to suit and the strong market support behind the selection, then a chance has to be taken on the 5.59/2 that is still available to back.

We stay at Ripon for our lay selection that runs in the 16:45. Endless Light had been backed as low as 1.824/5 but is now trading around 2.245/4. The 3yo made her debut last month, finishing second to the Godolphin trained Velvety, however the winner has since disappointed twice since that run. The ground that day was good to firm, todays is good to soft, so it should be interesting to see if she can handle the different conditions. For that reason, and the added doubt of having four newcomers in the race, with the most interesting being Mark Johnston's Dawn Calling, we suggest a lay at 2.285/4.

Our final back of the day is the Jim Goldie trained Rasaman, who runs at Newcastle in the 17:45. Jim Goldie's charge has been backed from 16.015/1 in to 7.87/1 joint favourite. The 9yo is back down into Class 4 Company after three recent efforts with better rivals. He performed very well in all of those runs, with excuses with the last two. He is 5lbs up from his last win at Ayr last month; however he has won off a mark of 85 before, so running off 80 today will not be a very tough task for him. The Geldings form in soft ground is very respectable so that should not really be an issue and if he can avoid any traffic in running, then backing Rasaman could be a very nice way to end the Bank Holiday.
