Follow The Money: Prince can lord it at Lingfield

We finish today's bets at Lingfield

Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Lingfield and Ascot.

"With the visor applied for the first time today and the money down, Prince of Burma can return to form."

Back Prince Of Burma @ 4.84/1 in the 13:25 at Lingfield

We start at Lingfield where Complicit has been easy to back in the 7f Conditions Stakes at 12:55, now trading at 5.04/1 from an early 2.727/4. This two-year-old colt began his career in a Listed event at Deauville before losing his maiden tag next time up at Ripon and then finishing runner-up last time out on heavy ground at Salisbury. That was over six furlongs and although he shaped as if the step up in trip wouldn't put him at a disadvantage, he is unproven at the distance. Trainer Paul Cole hasn't sent out a winner in over a month and with two fancied rivals in opposition the vibes suggest he can be taken on here.

Our first positive of the day comes at Ascot in the form of Kris Cross, whose odds have contracted from an early 14.5 in to 8.415/2 to win the 3m Handicap Chase at 13:00. This six-year-old gelding has yet to reach the same level over fences as he did over hurdles, he's currently rated 11lbs lower over the bigger obstacles, but seems to be getting the hang of things. Despite the odd jumping error, he ran a decent race last time out to stay on for third place, showing the heavy ground stamina that he will need for today's contest. Trainer Lucinda Russell doesn't send many runners to Ascot, jockey Grant Cockburn handily takes off 7lbs, and the market indicates he can put in an improved showing.

We go back to Lingfield for our final selection where Prince Of Burma has been a big mover in the 7f Handicap at 13:25, now available to back at 4.84/1 after being matched as high as 11.521/2. At first glance this wouldn't appear an obvious punt as this five-year-old colt has been finishing down the field, often starting slowly. However, having continued to drop in the weights his mark is becoming attractive (currently 62 having won over today's course off a mark of 81 early last year). He steps up to a more suitable trip today after recently running over shorter. With the visor applied for the first time today and the money down, he can return to form.
