Today's Follow The Money comes from Beverley, Goodwood and Yarmouth...
"Groundbreaking was an impressive four length winner on his first and only start in a maiden over this distance at Doncaster just over three weeks ago."
We start with the 14:00 opener at Yarmouth where the selection is Two Smart following a major move this morning. There are a number of positives: she is related to some decent performers over this distance, noticeably the useful winner Captain Marvelous, while trainer Karl Burke has recently struck a couple of times with new starters. The market plunge can only be seen as a positive - the horse has been backed in from a high of 1615/1 in to a low of 4.77/2.
We head to the 15:20 at Goodwood for our next back bet in the shape of Groundbreaking. The horse was an impressive four length winner on his first and only start in a maiden over this distance at Doncaster just over three weeks ago. Charlie Appleby's stable is in solid form with a few winners over the last few days and jockey William Buick has a good strike rate here. The market also indicates this will out in a strong performance moving in from 5.14 in to 3.18.
We finish up with our lay, Lucky Lodge, who runs in the 17:10 at Beverley. The selection has been a negative in the betting, drifting from 2.56/4 out to 3.185/40. A gain in weight of 4lbs from his last run, a streak of inconsistent form and a trainer who has had only one winner from his last 11 runners are the factors pushing his price out.
