Today's Follow the Money tips come from day one of Newmarket's Cambridgeshire meeting and Pontefract...
We start with today's lay, which comes in the shape of Mark Johnston's Torchlighter in the 14:20 at Pontefract. Negative vibes in the market have seen him drift from 1.8810/11 out to 2.767/4. Despite an experience edge on all of his rivals, the drop in trip looks against him and a host of top stables are represented in opposition. If the market is to be believed his sternest test will come from Saeed Bin Suroor's My Target, who has come in from 5.79/2 to 3.412/5.
The aptly named Newmarket Warrior is the second selection, in the 14:35 Newmarket, after he was supported from 5.59/2 into 4.3100/30. The form of his third place at the July course has worked out well, with the second, fourth and sixth winning next time out. He confirmed that promise on his latest start, dipping his toe into handicap company for the first time and beaten only by the progressive Ghaawy. Officially 4lb well in here, the likely strong pace will suit and he can pick his rivals up late in the hands of top Apprentice Oisin Murphy. He comes here on a high after his fairytale four-timer on Saturday's Ayr Gold Cup card.
We stay at the home of flat racing for our final selection. Luca Cumani's Kikonga in the 1m4f Listed race at 15:10 has been backed from 18.017/1 into 11.010/1 and upon closer inspection it's easy to see why her supporters are hoping for her to step up on her latest effort. Having progressed all season, she found the slow pace against her in her first step into Pattern company at Newbury on her latest start, albeit not disgraced in fifth. With that experience under her belt and with a strong pace likely, she is taken to outrun her odds.
