Welcome to Follow The Money for Monday 17th December. Today's bets come from Ffos Las and Plumpton...
We start with Ffos Las where in the 13:15 Leviathan has been on the drift all morning, now trading at 2.26/5 from a low of 1.84/5. He shaped well enough on debut, jumping well and showing good speed, however the trip is still a major doubt as he was a miler on the flat. Generally horses running between 10 and 12 furlongs make the best two mile hurdlers and though in a weak race you can get away with it there has been good money for Military Precision on his first start for David Pipe who looked promising in his debut bumper but has been off the track for a while.
Staying with Ffos Las where in the 14:45 Master Neo has been backed in from 9.417/2 into 6.86/1 for the Nigel Hawke team. He's a real soft ground staying chaser type and won his beginners chase in good style. He'd previously shown good form behind the useful Houblon Des Obeaux at 150/1 and has looked a different horse since a breathing operation. His last start was a little disappointing although that was on quicker ground and a better race. It was also over shorter and a stamina sapping heavy ground slog over three miles plus looks right up his street.
Over at Plumpton there has been a move on Johns Gem in the 14:35. This lightly raced gelding has been backed from 5.79/2 in to 4.67/2 for Zoe Davidson. He was very poor on his last start at Newbury however that can be forgiven as it was a much higher class today and the trip is short of his best. On his previous two starts he really stayed on in taking style and if given a forcing ride should have a nice chance. None of the opposition are in particularly great form and unlike Johns Gem don't look unexposed so he looks worth a bet at the current odds.
