Today's movers come from the meetings at Kelso and Ascot...
"John Pease’s runner has been steadily improving through his career and the journey across the Channel plus the market support suggests that Maxios could be gaining his third Group 1 success on suitable going."
Starting the day at Kelso in the 14.45 Maiden Hurdle over 2m 110y, there has been strong support for Ueueteotl in to 2.466/4 from 3.39/4. This 5-year-old gelding has won a National Hunt Flat Race, which was on his first ever run two years ago. Since then James Ewart's charge has run respectably in two more bumpers and in five hurdles starts, getting placed three times, the most recent being a respectable 2nd at this track in April over 2m2f. The market support looks encouraging that he'll be returning to the winners' enclosure at a course he has shown a liking for.
We head over to Champions Day at Ascot for our lay in the 14.55 Group 1 Fillies and Mares Stakes, where Talent has drifted out to 4.67/2 from a low of 3.953/1. Ralph Beckett's 3-year-old has done her connections proud, winning three races so far in her career, the highlight being the Oaks back in May. However, since then this filly by New Approach showed little in the Irish Oaks in July, finishing last when second favourite, but came back to form coming second in the St Leger. Today's race sees tough opposition in the shape of Hot Snap, the Nell Gwyn winner, who being out of Pivotal may well like today's previously unencountered soft going, and is receiving market support. The money is suggesting Talent is worth opposing today.
Heading back over to Ascot for the 15.30 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes where there has been steady support for Maxios from a high of 6.25/1 in to 5.49/2. This 5-year-old by Monsun has won 8 of his 17 starts all at tracks in France on ground good or softer. The most recent of these being the Group 1 Prix Du Moulin at Longchamp where he comfortably beat Olympic Glory by 5 lengths, who he is re-opposing today. John Pease's runner has been steadily improving through his career and the journey across the Channel plus the market support suggests that Maxios could be gaining his third Group 1 success on suitable going.
