Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Newcastle and Uttoxeter.
"Although lightly raced he has a decent mark and the trainer is in good form. The market support is significant, strengthening from 4.94/1 in to 3.211/5 so we're recommending a back today."
There has been heavy support for Ventura Quest in the 13:30 1m2f Handicap at Newmarket. Currently trading at 3.613/5 from a high of 6.22. Although yet to get off the mark he has been running in much higher grades than today and performing well. He will enjoy the conditions today and with two thirds of the markets positive money traded on him, this looks like the day he'll open his account.
Staying at Newmarket for the 14:35, Red Pike has been drifting in the market from 1.774/5 out to 2.0621/20. The reason for the drift is not so much the form of Red Pike, which has been solid all season, but more the heavy support for Michael Appleby's juvenile, Apache Storm, who has been backed from an early 6.611/2 in to a current 3.8514/5. Juveniles have won nine of the last ten runnings of this race and after getting off the mark impressively on her last start at Kempton she is open to further progress. We can't ignore this market support so we are recommending a lay of the favourite Red Pike.
If Nigel Twiston-Davies has got Listen Boy in good shape after his long layoff (exactly a year) then he must be the one to beat in the 15:35 at Uttoxeter. Previously he has finished close to the likes of Rolling Aces who is now much higher in the handicap. Although lightly raced he has a decent mark and the trainer is in good form. The market support is significant, strengthening from 4.94/1 in to 3.211/5 so we're recommending a back today.
