Lingfield is the only meeting to have survived the weather so today's three FTM bets come from the Surrey track...
"Laughing Jack will be looking to run from off the pace and this race could well fall into his hands to make it a winning return to competition."
There's a real lack of strong market negatives this morning which means that the Mark Johnston trained Limit Up is today's 'Lay of the Day' in the 16:10. The trading price has drifted from 2.26/5 out to 2.8615/8 which suggest it should be well beaten by Mysterial who is trained by the red-hot Richard Hannon. This is essentially a two-horse race and the strong market support for Richard Hughes' mount suggests that the nine month break from the track has developed this horse in to one that will beat Limit Up convincingly.
The first positive selection is Petersboden, who has traded from a high of 14.013/1 into a current low of 6.411/2 and runs in the 16:40. This Michael Blanshard-trained four-year-old is well down in the weights carrying only 8st 4lbs in today's 14-runner handicap race. Although still seeking a maiden win he has ran well in his last two outings - finishing an excellent second to Midnight Chase two outings ago - and looks certain to claim a race sooner rather than later.
In the 17:10 there has been huge support for Laughing Jack, who has been backed in from 17.5 in to 7.06/1. Trained by Tony Carrol, whose yard has been in good form of late, this five-year-old has been away from the track for a while and makes his return at a favourable mark today. Laughing Jack will be looking to run from off the pace and this race could well fall into his hands to make it a winning return to competition.
