Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Ayr and Sedgefield.
We start with a positive in the 14:10 at Ayr where Mark Johnston's Party Royal has attracted good money 3.613/5 in to 2.789/5. The Royal Applause colt looked in need of the experience when last seen at Chester and still ran with plenty of promise on ground which may not have been Ideal. The race looks above average for the grade with powerful stables represented by expensive purchases including Kevin Ryan who has a good record in the race but punters do not seem too concerned.
We go to Sedgefield next for our negative where, in the 14:20, Donald McCain's Ghaabesh has drifted from 2.6613/8 out to 3.45. The modest former flat performer must give weight to the rest of the field after winning on his hurdle debut in a Bangor Seller and although this looks a weak contest that could prevent him winning. The money has been strong for the Tim Vaughan trained favorite Peaks Of Fire who was a decent second on his latest start and layers of the McCain horse could be rewarded.
Our final positive is the Kevin Ryan trained Le Toreador in the Ayr 15:40 where good money has moved his price from 11.521/2 in to 7.413/2. The trainer has his sprinters in fine form and this son of Piccolo has no problem winning on his first start of the season, scoring on his last two seasonal reappearances. Despite running off his highest ever turf handicap mark he finished last season with a real flourish and his supporters seem bullish that the seven-year-old can carry on improving.
