We start the day at Newcastle in the 14.20 2m Handicap Hurdle, where there has been noticeable support for Desoto County, in to 5.95/1 from a high of 8.07/1. This six-year-old gelding hadn't finished out of the top two before his last start over 2m4f at Musselburgh in December, on his seasonal debut, where he was a beaten favourite finishing seventh. Donald McCain's runner may not have been suited by the step up in trip, and given the drop back to his proven distance today with a 3lb easing in the handicap, it looks worth giving Desoto County a chance to get his career back on track and to get involved at tempting odds of 5.85/1.

Our second positive can be found in the 16.20 2m5f Handicap Hurdle at Kempton, where Andy Kelly has received strong support from a high of 10.519/2 in to 7.06/1. A winner of two races so far from eight starts, this gelding by Flemensfirth is looking for a return to form after finishing unplaced at Sandown in December and also at Cheltenham in October. However, the way Emma Lavelle's runner impressed when winning a Novice Hurdle back in March over today's C&D suggests he has plenty of ability, and Andy Kelly's possible return to the winners enclosure has been given a helping hand with a drop in the handicap as well.

Heading to Lingfield for our lay of the day in the 16.35 5f Handicap, where Random Success has drifted out to 3.45 from a low of 2.486/4. Roger Charlton's mare has had a successful career so far, winning three races and coming placed in seven races, from a total of 13 starts. However, this five-year-old by Shamardal's last winning mark was 9lb lower than today's mark. She also re-opposes Brother Tiger, who she beat by a short head at Lingfield two weeks ago, and David Griffiths runner is now 1lb better off and receiving market support, giving us enough reasons to put Random Success up as the lay today.
