Lingfield and Punchestown have survived the cold snap, and those are the venues for the final Follow The Money selections of 2014...
We begin at Lingfield for the 7f Nursery due off at 13:10 where Glorious Dancer has attracted some interest on handicap debut, in to a price of 7.413/2 from an early 12.32.
Having shown little in two soft ground maidens the selection seemed to improve for the switch to the all-weather last time, finishing nicely from off the pace to grab fifth in a 6f maiden here at Lingfield. On that evidence the step up to 7f ought to suit and although stall 14 is not ideal, presumably he will be dropped in for a late run. The market suggests a bold show is on its way.
Over to Punchestown for today's lay which comes in the 2m4f Handicap Hurdle at 14:45. Gallant Oscar has been easy to back this morning, out to 3.211/5 having been matched as low as 2.33 early doors.
The 8yo made a winning return over hurdles in November off a mark some 29lbs lower than his chase mark and followed that with an excellent second off a 9lb higher mark two weeks later. He is clearly thriving at present but he has been raised another 6lbs for that effort and it might just be that the handicapper is getting to grips with him now.
Back to Lingfield for the last selection which comes in the 1m Handicap at 15:10 where Nimble Kimble has been backed from 11.521/2 in to 7.87/1.
She returned from five months off the track last time at Kempton and ran well to be sixth over 7f, shaping as though she might appreciate an extra furlong (not disgraced on only previous attempt at a mile in a good-to-soft turf handicap). Two runs at Lingfield have resulted in a win and a close third and Ryan Tate, who was on board on both occasions, returns to the saddle today.
