To Kempton we go

With just one one afternoon meeting all three movers run at Kempton

"Sea Soldier's made the frame in half of his six starts so far (winning once)...

Back Sea Soldier @ 10.09/1 Kempton 17.15."

Our first bet is Brian Meehan's Mississippi, backed from 10.09/1 in to 5.79/2, a once-raced son of Exceed and Excel who runs in the 'Betfair Supporting Grassroots Racing Maiden Stakes' at 15.15. The top stables are all in opposition in this heat, so the horse will have to show much better form than first time out in order to take top honours. Steady support all morning would suggest that the Meehan stable's good form, and habit of finding significant improvement from first to second outings could be the angle the early birds have latched on to today.

Second up is the only notable drifter of the day, Furbelow in the 15.45, the 'Betfair Supporting Grassroots Racing Maiden Fillies Stakes'. You'd need to be a brave soul to take this one on given its blue blood and lofty connections but plenty have, pushing the price out to 3.55/2 from an early 2.6813/8. Layers are hoping that either Catflap's recent form or the interesting debutante Gull Rock might be good enough to foil the favourite. This is a risky one so fingers and toes should be placed firmly in the crossed position.

In the 17.15, the Handicap, Sea Soldier (in to 10.09/1 from 15.44) looks worth a punt. This relatively unexposed son of Red Ransom is dropped in class after a brief but quite successful turf career. He's made the frame in half of his six starts so far (winning once), and considering the strong start made by his stable which took a Derby trial with an outsider last week, must have a chance if taking to the Polytrack.
