The markets have been reviewed and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meetings at Plumpton and Wolverhampton...
Heading to Plumpton for our first positive of the day, in the 15.10 Handicap Hurdle, Regal One is receiving steady support from a high of 7.84 in to 6.411/2. This gelding by Antonius Pius has shown in and out form so far in his career, most recently over fences he does appear to have struggled finishing fouth. However, David Bridgwater's six-year-old is back over hurdles today and running over the course and distance where he gained his sole career win, also on soft going. Connections have opted for a first time hood here, and with top jockey Tom Scudamore, who has a 20% strike rate for the yard over the last five years, getting the leg up, the market suggests Regal One could be returning to form.
Off to Wolverhampton for the second mover. Brownsville has seen consistent support in to 2.982/1 from 4.1, in the 15.30 Maiden Stakes. This three-year-old gelding is having his eighth start to date, showing enough ability to get a second and two thirds so far, most recently over 7f at this track 10 days ago when he finished third after tiring in the final furlong. Trainer Mark Johnston has a 46% strike rate at Wolverhampton so far this year, and with a drop back of a furlong combined with first time blinkers, in a race full of first time headgear attempts, the market is speaking favourably for Brownsville today.
We stay at Wolverhampton for the lay of the day in the 17.30 Median Auction Maiden Stakes over 1m½f, where Coillte Calin has drifted out to 2.35/4 from a low of 1.981/1. This four-year-old by Oratorio has had five starts so far, finishing placed on four of those outings, with the most recent being a close second at this track over 1m1½f a week ago. However, Daniel Mark Loughnane's filly was staying on at the end, suggesting that a step up in trip may suit her better in future. Also in the race, Marco Botti's runner Fitzgerald is receiving market support, looking like he will appreciate the step up in trip after being well-backed on his debut run last month over 7f but only finishing fifth. The market moves are in favour of Fitzgerald getting the better of Coillte Calin over a trip more in his favour.
