Back Jaunty Journey @ 6.25/1 in the 15:30 Bangor

Back Fascino Rustico @ 2.265/4 in the 15:50 Wincanton

Lay Dorry K @ 3.65 in the 16:20 Wincanton

The first back of the day is the 11yo Jaunty Journey in the 15:30 at Bangor. The Nigel Twiston-Davies Gelding has been backed from a high of 11.010/1 in to 6.25/1.

The selection has had a tough time of it lately, unseating Sam Twiston-Davies on his last two outings. But we do have some positives with him now being down to a very competitive mark, some 22lbs lower than his highest ever hurdles mark of 125. He also has a serious pull at the weights by receiving over a stone from both horses at the top of the market, and in this ground that could prove crucial. If the old boy can recapture any sort of form he should be there or thereabouts in this ground. We suggest a back of 6.25/1 to be excellent value.

Our second back of the day is the Paul Nicholls trained Fascino Rustico who has been backed from 3.052/1 in to 2.265/4 in the 15:50 at Wincanton.

The 6yo was put up by this column on his most recent run 11 days ago after having a similar looking plunge in price as today's. That run did not work out for us as he came down two out, having looked to be the clear winner that day from a long way out trading as low as 1.21/5 before the fall. Today he has been allocated a handicap mark of 126 which the market seems to suggest is very lenient, and you would also think he has been schooled intensely since his recent bad experience and his only opponent today is the hurdles. With such strong support a back of 2.265/4 has to be recommended.

Our final recommendation is our lay of the day who runs in the 16:20 at Wincanton where Dorry K has been the subject of a massive drift of 2.526/4 out to 3.65.

It is slightly higher than we would like for one of our lays, but the money wanting to be with the field just cannot be ignored. The 5yo comes into this race five days after success at Warwick, winning a fairly competitive conditional jockeys handicap hurdle by nearly two lengths. He does run off the same mark today with a more than capable jockey in Tom Scudamore aboard, but with such a short break and the heavy ground we have to follow the money and lay at 3.65.
