Today's Follow The Money comes from Lingfield and Ayr...
We start at Lingfield in the 14:30 7f Handicap, where there has been a significant drift on Ralph Beckett's Mr Bossy Boots. Matched at an early price of 2.0421/20, he is currently trading at 2.526/4. Mr Bossy Boots has been running well but was beaten into third last time out when favourite at 6/4 at Wolverhampton. Evening Attire has been steadily recapturing his old form for a new yard and is of interest supported from 5.59/2 in to 3.953/1. Forceful Appeal has also attracted support in the race 11.521/2 in to 8.07/1. Mr Bossy Boots probably won't have it his own way here and is our lay of the day.
Our first back of the day runs in the 3m1f Handicap at 14:20 at Ayr. Lucinda Russell's Island Heights has been backed from 4.57/2 in to 2.226/5 and has run well in two decent chases finishing second both times. He has less to prove than market rival The Last Samuri who was very fortunate to win on debut over fences at Bangor when under pressure, and was eventually gifted the race when the one in front fell at the last. The Last Samuri started at odds of 1/3 in that race and must be taken on again in what essentially another match bet with our pick.
We move on to the 14:50 at Ayr, a handicap over two miles where Markem has seen solid support, backed from 10.09/1 in to 6.25/1. The gelding has won two hurdle races in heavy ground over 2m4f but hasn't looked an out and out stayer on the chase circuit. Markem can take a good grip and looks worth a try over 2m in what looks a weak race on paper. Wilson Renwick takes the ride for Rose Dobbin and the support suggests a big run is expected and we will be backing Markem.
