Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Newcastle and Chelmsford City...
We begin at Newcastle for our first back in the 13:50 2m Novice hurdle, where two horses dominate the market. There has been support for Zip Top, John Ferguson's unexposed six-year-old, from an early 3.02/1 in to a short-priced 2.3411/8. Zip Top broke his maiden tag just 15 days ago, in a race in which he raced handily and stayed on really well for a three and a half-length victory. With AP McCoy on board again today we are putting our faith in this smart gelding.
We move over to Chelmsford City for our next selection in the 14:10 1m Handicap, where Ruban has been backed from an attractive 7.26/1 in to a strong 4.47/2. He sauntered to victory just two starts ago at Southwell, when coming well clear of the rest. He didn't quite show the same attitude last time at Lingfield, racing keenly and finishing a disappointing fifth, but he has dropped two pounds for that moderate race and with apprentice Arron Jones claiming a generous 7lbs, we are confident Ruban can get back in the winner's enclosure today.
Today's negative comes from Newcastle's 16:20 the 2m NHF where John Ferguson's High Bridge has drifted from 1.794/5 out to a current 2.56/4. This unraced four-year-old has been drifting through the course of this morning. Strong market support for the second and third in the market, one of them beeing Captain Chaos for Tim Fitzgerald who traded last night at as high as 18.017/1, but is how as short as 4.94/1. With all the money elsewhere High Bridge looks like the one to oppose.
