Follow The Money: Have a nibble on Cookie

Two of today's bets run at York

Today's Follow The Money comes from Newmarket and York.

Back Clever Cookie @ 5.39/2 in the 14:20 at York
Back Heartbreak Hero @ 3.8514/5 in the 14:25 at Newmarket
Lay Dutch Breeze @ 3.613/5 in the 16:35 at York

We start the day at York where we seek to get off to winning ways by backing Clever Cookie who runs in the 14:20. Betfair backers have snapped up the early 6.84 and the selection trades at a current 5.39/2. After a successful campaign over hurdles Clever Cookie looks to make it three wins from three today in what has been an excellent start to his career on the flat. Although this is a step up in class from his previous two affairs, he still looks relatively unexposed in this calibre of race, winning here last time out with a little bit in hand in a competitive field. Graham Lee takes the ride again after steering him to his last two wins, and with market rival First Mohican moving the wrong way in the betting, all things point to a positive display from this one today.

Moving south to Newmarket we find our next back, Heartbreak Hero, who runs in the 14:25. Having been available at an early 8.615/2 he has tumbled in price to 3.8514/5. Trainer William Haggas pulled this one out of a similar affair at Leicester a few days ago due to concerns with the heavy ground so confidence can be taken that he chooses to run today with the going expected to be a lot firmer. Market support for this shrewd yard's newcomers is usually significant, and ought to be taken in to consideration. Well-bred, being a half-brother to four winners, and with all that said, we think this one should make his debut a winning one.

Finally we move back up to York for our negative, Dutch Breeze, who runs in the 16:35. A significant drift has seen this one move from an early 2.35/4 out to 3.613/5. This Tim Easterby-trained charge always seems to find one too good, finishing second on three of his five starts. Today's six furlongs seems to be his preferred distance, but with so many inconsistent runs this horse has built an untrustworthy reputation and the money has come for the well-supported favourite Blurred Vision. Taking all this in to account, we think this one is worthy of taking on today and a lay is the call.
