Today's Follow The Money movers run at Warwick and Royal Ascot.
"The easing of the ground is in Nicholascopernicus' favour too and he should make a bold bid to land the hat-trick today."
We start with the opening claimer at Warwick (14:20) where Crown Dependency has been very weak, moving out from 1.594/7 to 3.613/5. The selection, although top-rated in the field, has been struggling for form for some time now. This is an ease in class but there are questions to answer regarding this step up to a mile, the soft ground and the horse's general well-being. Blinkers are tried today but punters feel he is still one to get and are against him today.
In Royal Ascot's 17:00 Group 3 Tercentenery Stakes over a mile-and-a-quarter there has been good support for Rewarded, now trading at 8.88/1 having earlier been 14.54. This progressive sort won a good quality Newmarket handicap earlier this season before finding trouble in running when fourth at Newbury last time. He would have been much closer with a clear path that day and it is interesting connections have opted to leave handicap company now rather than take advantage of a potentially very attractive official mark in another handicap. The money suggests he has gone on again since last seen and the overnight rain is a plus. A big run looks on the cards this afternoon.
Finally, in Royal Ascot's 17:35 mile-and-a-half King George V Stakes Handicap, there has been plenty of money for Nicholascopernicus. He now trades at 7.26/1 from an earlier 13.75. This 3yo arrives on an upward curve having won at Doncaster and Newbury, relishing the step up to 12 furlongs in the process. Today's race represents a sharp rise in class but there should still be plenty more to come and he creeps into the bottom of the handicap. The easing of the ground is in his favour too and he should make a bold bid to land the hat-trick today.
