Today's Follow the Money movers come from the meetings at Beverley and Brighton...
Starting with today's negative which appears in Beverley's 14:30, a seven furlong Maiden Stakes where Atlantic Affair has been easy to back moving out from 2.8415/8 to a current 3.02/1. Mark Johnston's two-year-old Filly achieved decent performance levels in the start to her career running over the minimum distance in each race. However last time out she disappointed finishing well down the field. Today's contest over a longer distance may well be an attempt to confirm her pedigree but with other decent rivals in the race the wait to break the maiden tag may continue.
Now to Brighton and in the 14:45, a 10 furlong Handicap where Pat Phelan's six-year-old gelding Green Earth has been backed from 2.6213/8 into 2.26/5. The son of Cape Cross has an excellent record at today's track with three wins under his belt including two at today's distance, his most recent a fortnight ago. With a further win at Windsor just over a week ago he may be feeling the affects of his last outing but the market begs to differ. With 5lb claimer Jemma Marshall on board for her only ride of the day the four-timer could well be on.
Finally, back to Yorkshire and the 16:00, another 10 furlong Handicap where John Mackie's six-year-old gelding Saint Thomas has been backed significantly from 11.521/2 into 5.85/1. With four wins under his belt at the track (only one other victory achieved elsewhere), the trainer's statement that 'he loves it at Beverley' is no lie. Although handicapped up to his best there's no getting away from the course form. With the seasoned Joe Fanning taking the ride with a 25% strike rate here a fifth course win could be achieved.
