Today's Follow The Money Movers come from the meetings at Newbury, Thirsk and Ayr.
"The drop back to 7f should be ideal for Majestic Myles and the small field will allow him to take up his preferred handy racing position. If the money is right he will be difficult to beat this afternoon."
We start at Newbury where Moohaajim has drifted alarmingly from 2.166/5 to 2.829/5 to win the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at 15:30. Marco Botti's three-year-old had a fine juvenile season last year, including when winning the valuable Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, but one or two lingering doubts seem to have been reflected in a lack of market confidence.
So far he has run exclusively over 6f on quick surfaces so could find his speed blunted today as he tackles a furlong further with cut in the ground. All the money has been for Richard Hannon's Olympic Glory who looks to have conditions to suit and has only been beaten by 2000 Guineas favorite Dawn Approach.
At Ayr's big meeting, Kians Delight has been backed in to 5.14/1 from 8.12 for the 2m5f Handicap Hurdle at 16:25. Peter Bowen's 5yo steps into the unknown with this trip but racked up an impressive sequence of victories last summer over staying distances on the flat so there seems every chance he will cope well. His last effort in a competitive Aintree contest should have brought him on nicely for this and all ground seems to come the same to him. Today might well be the start of another fruitful summer campaign.
Finally, it's back across the border to Thirsk for their 17:10 Conditions Stakes over 7f, in which Majestic Myles has been well supported in to 3.259/4 from an earlier 5.14/1. Richard Fahey's yard has enjoyed a 20% strike rate on all runners over the last two weeks and this useful 5yo gelding may help to prolong the hot streak. He proved his ability last year by placing in Group 3 company at Newmarket and landing a Listed event at Chester, while he has a run under his belt this season after a respectable seventh in the Lincoln last month. The drop back to 7f should be ideal and the small field will allow him to take up his preferred handy racing position. If the money is right he will be difficult to beat this afternoon.
