"Sleeper has been bang in-form this season registering three wins in her last four races."
Back Sleeper @ 6.25/1 in the 17:25 at Newmarket
It is hard to knock Godolphin's record in the 15:15 Listed race at Ayr having won this race three times in the last five years, including last year with Sharestan. However, we can report that Sky Hunter has been very easy to back this morning sliding from a low of 2.8815/8 out to a current 3.45. This gelding looked a very useful prospect when with master French trainer Andre Fabre last year, losing just once when coming home third in the French Derby. Transferred to Saeed Bin Suroor, this year has been a different story with two hugely underwhelming efforts, the first of which when sent off a very warm 6/5 favourite in a Sandown Group 3 finishing a mile behind Noble Mission in fourth place. His last race was perhaps even more disappointing when sixth of seven behind Mount Athos at Newbury in May. As is so often the case with sons of Motivator, this horse is a quirky type and is tried in a first time hood back from a break following his gelding operation. If late money is seen for the selection then caution is advised, but for now the call is a lay at the price.
Just the six runners line up for the 15:20 at Catterick, an interesting looking 1m 6f handicap where overwhelming support has been noted for Crakehall Lad. Tried earlier on in the season over trips far shorter than today's, the selection wasn't seen to best effect. However, his last two starts (admittedly also off a lower handicap mark) over today's trip have seen a reversal in fortunes with a second and a first place last time out registered. Up just four lbs for his last win and with the market confidence - 5.24/1 in to 3.711/4 - Crakehall Lad is a confident selection to double up today.
We took a brief look at the Ayr Gold Cup (15:50) and considered Highland Acclaim, following a move from 17.5 in to 13.012/1. That's a fair shift in such a huge market, however he'd need a load of luck in-running and is one for the brave.
So we move on for our last positive of the day to the 17:25 1m 4f handicap at Newmarket. Ralph Beckett's Sleeper has come in for solid support this morning moving from a high of 8.07/1 in to a current 6.25/1. The trainer is known especially for his work with fillies and Sleeper has been bang in-form this season registering three wins in her last four races. Her second last time out was no disgrace in a race that wasn't run to suit and she is taken along with the strong market support to get back on track today.
