On a busy afternoon of racing, the Follow The Money team have reviewed the markets to come up with these three selections from Lingfield, Musselburgh, and York...
Starting at York where The Grey Gatsby has been well supported into 2.466/4 from an earlier 2.767/4. Kevin Ryan's Colt won here on his sole start despite only really getting the hang of things late on and that run is likely to have brought him on considerably for today. Such inexperience could be a worry but the trainer has twice won this before with once-raced runners and the fact he was entered for the Gimcrack suggests he is highly thought of and does not lack for speed. The way he powered home last time left a lasting impression and he looks to have the edge on Godolphin rival, First Flight, who has been easy to back.
At Lingfield Emulating has been worryingly weak in the betting having drifted out to 4.216/5 from 3.7511/4 for the 1m2f Handicap at 15:30. Richard Hannon's three-year-old hasn't won since Windsor in the early season but finds himself on a 6lb higher mark compared to that day and others make more appeal here. He may well have won last time back at Windsor but for suffering interference close home, however this track is a different proposition to the Berkshire venue and his best efforts have come at around a mile so this longer trip is by no means guaranteed to suit.
Finally, in Musselbugh's 15:55 2m Handicap, Aleksandar has been backed dramatically into 7.06/1 from 15.014/1. Jim Goldie's four-year-old ran no sort of a race at York last month but the weight of money behind him hints at a lot better this afternoon. He has gone down 6lbs in the ratings and has a promising claimer on board removing another 7lbs off his back, therefore he is getting lumps of weight from clear favorite Platinum, who is not certain to stay this trip. Stamina is not a problem for Aleksandar who is proven at this marathon trip, he also acts well on a quick surface so it would be a disappointment if he couldn't at least outrun his odds.
