Carlisle is where today's first market positive runs in the Cumberland Show Handicap Chase at 15:40. Emperors Choice has been backed in to 3.55/2 from 5.04/1 suggesting a big run is expected. This Venetia Williams-trained six-year-old looked full of running when winning at Taunton last time out so today's longer 3m2f trip should prove a wise move by connections. We head to Southwell for our second selection which runs in the 16:30. Tennessee Bird has been a negative on the exchange moving to 4.216/5 from 3.48. He was comfortably held in his first three runs in handicaps and then an unlucky runner-up last time when headed on the line in a 23-runner handicap at Doncaster. However, Gavin Sheehan's mount is justifiably being treated with caution this morning as the drying ground may not have enough cut and while there are plenty of opponents today who enjoy a firmer going.

Shockingdancer runs in the 16:50 at Wolverhampton and has been backed in to 2.789/5 from 4.58. This market confidence is particularly notable as much was expected in his maiden performance over course and distance a month ago when he ran disappointingly and could only beat a couple of his rivals. A marked improvement is clearly expected today from this Botti trained 3YO Danehill Dancer colt in this interesting maiden.
