Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Newbury and Sedgefield.
"King's stable are in great form and Robert Thornton adds a further positive, having landed a double on Chepstow's card yesterday."
We start things off in the 15:10 at Newbury where there have been signs of support for Alan King's Dundee. Opening at a mark of around 9.06 he now trades around about 8.07/1. Upped to three miles last time out he appeared to be travelling the best in the race around the home turn before fading on the run-in. That was the first time he has run over the distance and he may well have needed the run at the trip to improve his fitness and for experience. He runs off of a pound lower today and the form of the last race has been franked with the third horse that day, Kaysersberg, winning since. King's stable are in great form and Robert Thornton adds a further positive, having landed a double on Chepstow's card yesterday. All signs look positive and the price of 8.07/1 certainly looks tempting.
Our next back comes in the 16:20 at Newbury where Volnay De Thaix has seen heavy support, moving from 2.89/5 in to 2.0621/20. The Nicky Henderson-gelding has very solid form to his name, having won two of his three starts in the UK and finishing second in the other behind the Paul Nicholls-trained Supreme Novices' favourite Irving. Volnay De Thaix's two previous wins were very impressive and with nothing of the likes of Irving in today's field he is a confident selection to get his head in front.
Finally today's lay comes in the last race at Sedgefield the 17:05, where Diaktoros has been weak in the market drifting from an opening show of 1.991/1 out to 2.747/4, having finished second in both of his NHF starts to date. Ben Haslam has not had a winner in his last five seasons in NHF races and Diaktoros has yet to prove he has the attitude to get past his rivals on the run in. There are many dangers in the race, headed by second favourite Georgian Firebird who won her penultimate NHF start by an impressive nine lengths. Diaktoros looks worth opposing at 2.747/4.
