Follow The Money: Dramatic drift on Nicholls' Sametegal at Taunton

Will you get against Nicholls' Sametegal today?

Two bets on the all-weather and one over obstacles at Taunton from the Follow The Money team

"There is little confidence behind Sametegal as he steps into handicap company to face vastly more experienced rivals, several of whom a case can be made for."

Lay Sametegal @ 3.412/5 Taunton 15:40

We start at Southwell where Corn Maiden has been strongly supported into 4.57/2 from 6.411/2 in the 1m4f Hcap at 14:50. Mark Rimmer's filly is still without a win but showed enough over course and distance last time to convince punters she is in with a shout today. That was her first fibresand experience and as her sire has produced plenty of winners at this track there may be more to come. In a weak field she receives lumps of weight off a vulnerable looking market leader and this looks as good an opportunity to finally lose the maiden tag.

At Taunton, Sametegal has been alarmingly weak in the betting for the 15:40 Handicap Hurdle, now trading at 3.412/5 from an earlier 2.486/4. Recruited from France last year, this four-year-old has made a good impression, winning twice this season and earning quotes for the Triumph Hurdlenext month. However, there is little confidence behind him as he steps into handicap company to face vastly more experienced rivals, several of whom a case can be made for. It's difficult to know what to make of the last win at Musselburgh as Kashmir Peak, who had previously beaten him at Doncaster, crashed out before the race got serious. Furthermore, this contest may be simply a Cheltenham prep and connections of this Paul Nicholls-trained horse could be more concerned with his overall development than winning the race.

Finally it's back to Southwell for the 16:35 1m Handicap in which there has been a dramatic move on Multi Fours , now trading at 8.07/1 having previously been available around the 14.013/1 mark. Daniel Kubler's filly has achieved little of note in five starts to date but the money behind her is interesting as she makes her debut on this surface and there is plenty in the sire side of her pedigree to suggest she might take well to it. The last run at Wolverhampton could be better than it looks on paper as she led for a long way before fading badly near the finish. The drop back to a mile could be a help and she looks set to give the short-priced favourite, Naughtybychoice, something to think about.
