Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Bath and Ffos Las...
We start with the Ffos Las 16:30 in which Cheveton has been steadily supported from 6.7 in to 5.04/1. The gelding's form this season would not make him an obvious contender but he has followed the same pattern in each of his previous three campaigns by only winning in the month of September. Richard Price is a canny trainer and we are sure that his followers have latched on to this and the fact that Cheveton runs today off a mark some 8lbs lower than when successful in the Ayr Silver Cup this time last year.
Moving to Bath for our second positive where Courage has been backed in the 16:40 from 2.526/4 in to 2.1211/10. This is race bereft of serious contenders bar the second favourite and whilst some would argue that Sir Michael Stoute's gelding has not lived up to his name, the application of a visor might just make all the difference today.
Our final mover is our negative and comes in the 5f maiden at 17:00 in the shape of Finesse who has drifted from 1.4640/85 out to 1.84/5. Quite why Ralph Beckett's charge is so weak is not obvious to see save the fact that the filly is dropping back from 7f to the minimum distance when her pedigree would suggest that connections might be better served going the other way so far as trip is concerned. With the market vibes and at the price this is one that we are happy to take on.
