The markets have been reviewed and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meetings at Bath and Haydock...
We start with our first back of the day in the Bath 15.30 Class 5 Handicap over five and a half furlongs. New Decade has been well supported from 7.613/2 into[ 5.6]. The gelding has scored on the all-weather and comes here on the back of two good placed efforts on turf, only going down by a short head at Salisbury last week. Only 2lb higher today and crack apprentice Oisin Murphy takes the ride and the forecast good to soft ground should be ideal. The trainer Milton Bradley knows how to get one ready in the sprints and the positive money only increases confidence.
The second back of the day is in the Haydock 15:50 Class 3 handicap over 1m for Chosen Character who has been supported in from 8.615/2 into 6.86/1. The Tom Dascombe trained gelding won five races in 2012, including two over C&D but has been unsuccessful since, however ran a solid race last time out only fading out of it in the final furlong in a better race last time out. The conditions are fine and a big run is expected. Jenny Powell claims a handy 7lb's. Jamie Spencer rides the favourite in the race, so a decent return could be on the cards.
We finish with our lay of the day in the Haydock 16.20, a Class 4 Handicap over 1m4f. Norway Cross has drifted from 2.982/1 out to 3.613/5. The Luca Cumani trained filly disappointed on her seasonal reappearance finishing a six length second of four runners. Probably a fair price now but not a lot of confidence behind Norway Cross this morning, we usually like to see some support for runners in this stable. A competitive enough race and a few unexposed types who could throw a spanner in the works.
