Yarmouth and Newcastle are the venues for today's Follow The Money selections...
We start with our Lay of the day who runs in the 15:50 at Yarmouth. Next Door has drifted all morning from a low of 3.02/1 out to 4.216/5. The Frankie Dettori mount is attempting her second victory today after landing a Maiden at Pontefract two starts ago. Her last run was a fairly credible fourth place to Hoofalong at Doncaster. In order to take this Handicap today she needs to improve once again, and with all the un-exposed runners in the field, we believe that it will not be an easy task. With the question marks surrounding the Lay in today's race, as well as the unknown of the majority of her rivals, we feel she will have too much on her hands in this handicap.
Our first back of the day is Yorksters Prince who runs in the 16:30 at Newcastle and has been backed from a high of 9.28/1 in to 6.05/1. The Marjorie Fife trained six-year-old has three turf wins to his name and they have all been on ground Good to Firm and over 1m2f, and although they have all been at Redcar, todays track conditions and trip should suit very well. The Gelding arrives here effectively 5lbs well in after his latest success last Friday, with which he is now due to go up 6lbs. Along with the vital 5lbs claim from Shirley Teasdale, he is still on a very favourable mark to take this weak handicap.
The next back selection is San Cassiano who tackles the 17:00 at Newcastle. He has been backed from a high 4.1 in to 3.02/1. Ruth Carr`s Gelding is a tough front runner who won very comfortably last week at Ripon. It is felt that even with the 6lbs penalty that he has to carry, the horse has the stature to carry top weight. Today he is attempting to land back-to-back handicaps for the third time in four seasons, something that the horse is very well equipped to doing.
