The Follow The Money team have picked out two runners at Southwell that are attracting the cash today, while at Ayr there's a Donald McCain runner on the drift...
We start in Southwell's opener at 13.40, where Richard Ford's Seamster has been backed from [17.66] into [7.8]. The six year old is a lightly raced type and was very promising for Mark Johnston in the early part of his career. He had showed little for Richard Ford up until December 2011 when he won a classified stakes at today's course, he followed that up with a well beaten effort a month later. I think it's clear to see connection think he is best fresh and have booked Graham Lee for the ride today. If he can get out in front, on an uncontested lead he could well gallop then in to the ground this afternoon.
We move north to Ayr in their 14.20. The race has seen a negative move for Donald McCain's Swatow Typhoon, trading now at [2.88] from an earlier [2.24]. The six year old goes novice hurdling today after making all in a bumper at the same track 20 days ago. He ran well that day, staying on well after being pushed along half a mile from home. That said he takes on better horses today, though his rivals are far from being top class, they look sure to run their usual consistent races. If as in the bumper he comes of the bridle relatively early he could find it much harder to pick up in the heavy ground today.
Back at Southwell for their long distance handicap at 15.50 we have seen a move for the well backed Tartan Jura, now [1.9] from an early [2.04]. Clearly not one of the stable star's he has shown bits of ability including a win at Goodwood in a National Hunt Jockeys race. Since then he has run some good races at both Kempton and Wolverhampton. He has had a few months off to freshen him up and the small field looks sure to suit this free running sort.
