Good Afternoon, today's Follow the Money movers come from the meetings at Ascot and Haydock...
Starting in Lancashire for today's negative, where in the 13:55, a 2 mile 6 furlong Novices' Chase Poungach has been easy to back moving out from 2.89/5 to a current 3.55/2. Paul Nicholls' six-year-old gelding has his third attempt over fences after a successful campaign over hurdles. Having gone off favourite in a Grade 2 contest last time out where he made mistakes finishing second the trainer fits cheekpieces today to try and go one better. With the going now reportedly heavy in places which will be a new experience and several serious rivals to take on in the race the lack of market support would suggest this may not be his day.
Moving to Ascot's 14:40, a 2 mile 3 furlong Handicap Chase where Kapga De Cerisy has seen support moving from 6.05/1 into 4.47/2. Venetia Williams' four-year-old gelding takes on older, more experienced rivals today but has made an encouraging start to fences after beginning his career in France over hurdles with respectable performances in Graded company. With his only start over fences earlier this month at the Berkshire track over the same distance as todays contest the market support could well be justified especially with the trainers current 26% strike rate.
Staying at Ascot and the 15:15, a three mile Handicap Chase where Carrickboy has moved significantly from 10.09/1 into 7.87/1. Another from the Venetia Williams stable the eight-year-old gelding has his first run of the season after a decent campaign last year which tailed off at the end when running on good ground. With soft conditions today which have in the past resulted in his best performances the market move could prove significant and end the trainers losing streak at the track at a distance the horse is reported to be aimed at.
