Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Carlisle, Ludlow and Southwell.
At Carlisle, in the 14:55 2m 4f, Bertie Milan has been supported in to 5.905/1 from 9.08/1. He is having his first fun for a new stable today and it is possible that might invigorate him today, the market move does suggest that. He finished third at Hexham last time out over 3m 1f, so this represents a significantly shorter distance than he usually runs, though he has run at this trip before, so will have no stamina issues today.
At Southwell in the 16:05 Maiden Stakes over 1m 4f, Infinitum has drifted out to 2.3811/8 from 2.0521/20. Infinitum is the highest rated horse in the race, so if the three-year-old filly can adapt to the fibresand she ought to win this maiden. She was a short priced 2/1 second favourite at Wolverhampton last time out and could only manage fourth. Having no previous experience of Fibresand it is possible other horses in the race may adapt better to the surface.
Finally at Ludlow, in the 16:50 Handicap Chase over 3m, Gallimaufry has been well backed in to 5.805/1 from 15.014/1. The six-year-old mare has never won a race before in 14 starts and is the lowest rated horse in the race, so not an obvious contender to be backed so significantly. She was backed in to 9/1 from an opening price of 20/1 last time at Southwell so she may not have reached her potential yet. Gallimaufry does benefit from carrying bottom weight 10st 0lb and this is a relatively weak race.
