Today's Follow The Money movers come from the meetings at Newton Abbot and Newbury...
Starting over jumps with Newton Abbot's 16:35 2m1f Handicap Hurdle, in which Bach On Tow has come in to 5.39/2 from 6.611/2. Trainer Sue Gardner has been enduring a lean spell of late having not sent out a winner for 141 days but the small stable has a chance to grab some glory down in Devon this afternoon. The booking of Paul Moloney for this ride immediately sticks out, particularly as the 7-year-old has slipped down to his last winning mark, attained last year at this track. The gelding has been freshened up since placing fourth round here in June, he has ground conditions to suit and has won before over this slightly shorter trip so, with plenty of market confidence behind him, a big run is expected.
Switching codes now and Absolutely So has been backed for good money down to 3.02/1 from 3.814/5 in Newbury's 7f Listed event at 16:40. Andrew Balding's 4-year-old has had a fine season and handled the step up from handicap company last month to produce a career-best effort in landing a valuable Listed contest at York, in convincing fashion. Prior to that he narrowly missed out in the always fiercely competitive Bunbury Cup and his performances this season suggest the colt is still progressing nicely, so a prize like this is now well within his reach. The only doubt is the ground which may be on the quick side after he seemingly failed to handle good to firm at Ascot, but water has been put down at Newbury so there will be some give underfoot and it has not deterred punters from getting on his side this morning.
Back at Newton Abbot, Bohemian Rhapsody has wandered out to a price of 4.57/2 from 3.55/2 in the closing 2m6f Handicap Hurdle at 17:40. Sean Curran's 5-year-old makes his stable debut today and runs without the headgear applied for his minor maiden hurdle win earlier in the summer so the market was always likely to be an informative guide to this one's chances today. He did compete well behind the useful Vulcanite in a decent race at Worcester but shoulders top weight in this and looks vulnerable, especially with the Pipe runner, Hawkshill, attracted hefty support. This longer trip is a bit of an unknown for the selection and connections may well be willing to wait for a drop in the ratings before targeting another win with him.
