Starting at Towcester where Scorpions Sting has been well supported into 3.412/5 from 4.47/2 in the opening 2m Handicap Hurdle at 14:10.
James Ewart's 6 year-old has yet to register a win from nine attempts but ran well last month behind a multiple winner at Sedgefield and runs off the same mark here. He had shown little in two efforts prior to that after pulling too hard but showed more control last time and if not too keen early he could be the one to beat. The yard has sent out two winners from six in the last fortnight and claimer Dale Irving relieves 6lbs from the burden of top weight.

Moving on to Wincanton's 14:50 2m4f Handicap chase now, in which Vesperal Dream has been weak in the betting, wandering out to 2.245/4 from 1.9620/21. Paul Nicholls' 6 year-old was a prolific winner earlier in the season before being put away to avoid the worst of the winter ground. Beaten off 124 when last seen over hurdles he made a winning start to his chasing career when easily landing a weak Taunton handicap despite not always being fluent at his fences. This is a much more competitive heat and the selection has gone up 11lbs, giving 19lbs away to the in-form One For The Boss. He might have too much class but also may be rusty after so long off the track and is readily opposed at the current prices.

Finally, in the next race on the same card, Lukes Hill has attracted money for the 2m Handicap Hurdle at 15:20, now trading at 9.89/1, he was previously available at 14.013/1. Lurking towards the bottom of the weights this Irish import has recently joined the David Rees yard after showing some fair form in his homeland without winning. He made a positive impact over here at the end of last year with an encouraging third at Taunton off a pound higher before disappointing back at the same track in February. That last run may have been affected by the use of a first time visor, left off today, and the longer trip didn't seem to suit either. With things more in his favour today he can give a good account at attractive odds.
