Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Worcester and Carlisle.
"Lexi's Boy won four of his last six starts on the flat last season for his old stable, and with the going looking fine and the money down, another big run can be expected from him today."
We start at Worcester in the 14:10 where Battle Group has been on the drift, going from 2.226/5 out to 2.942/1. Although he has rating figures well above today's rivals, his defeat last start at long odds-on was just one of many examples where he's performed well below what could be expected. That run took his record over fences to zero from six, so although he most certainly has the ability to win today, David Pipe's runner has shown in the past he simply cannot be trusted to put his best hoof forward, so he may be best avoided today.
Moving to Carlisle for the 15:00, Sound Advice has seen steady support coming in to 4.84/1 from 6.9. Keith Dalgleish's runner was given plenty of runs as a two-year-old after winning his debut, but never really carried on from his good career start. His first two runs this season where disappointing, but he showed good improvement last start off a lower mark in his first run since being gelded. He can be expected to improve for that run, and with today's going looking ideal should be right in the finish.
Staying at Carlisle for the 16:05, Lexi's Boy has been heavily backed from 6.611/2 in to 3.9. He has been a useful hurdler for the Donald McCain yard of late, but is certainly no stranger to running a good race without the obstacles. He won four of his last six starts on the flat last season for his old stable, and with the going looking fine and the money down, another big run can be expected from him today.
