The markets have been reviewed, and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meetings at Exeter and Punchestown...
The 15:30 at Exeter is a fascinating contest, featuring a clash between exciting young hurdlers On The Road and Avithos - with a good supporting cast besides. The later showed much improvement last time out in Chepstow. The winner of that race has since gone on to score on both his following starts. Avithos enjoyed the softer ground last time out and the market suggests it will further improve today given the longer trip. As such the money which has moved Avithos from a high of 12.011/1 into 6.86/1 looks well placed.
Our second selection comes in the 12:45 at Exeter, a competitive looking affair on paper which should prove to be an interesting contest. Preference is for What A Diva, the Bowen charge has attracted serious support from a high of 16.5 in to a current price of 5.95/1. The five-year-old has had a modest Autumn, placing in a few bumpers. It is expected that a step up in trip here today will help What A Diva and that the handicapper has been too generous to this mare. Harry Fry's A Plein Temps is the main competition in this race but it is expected that the 5lb rise should prove too much today.
For the lay we look to the Punchestown card, and the closing bumper at 15:55. The favourite Samcro is a notable drifter. He was trading at 1.51/2 not so long ago but is now readily available at prices around the 1.654/6 mark. Although representing newly acquired top connections and boasting an appealing unexposed profile, the form of his win beating an unimpressive bunch by only 1length on debut is not that strong. Today he takes on plenty of horses who have shown real promise in the pointing fields, so can be taken on at cramped odds.
