It's like the week before Christmas for flat fans, with all the months of build up and expectation coming to a head this weekend when the elite do battle at Epsom...

"The main mover in the Derby market has been Across The Stars, after being nibbled at all week he is now [27.0], in from [40.0]. You can’t find a man who divides opinion much more than Kieran Fallon, but you would be a fool to write off a three time Derby winner and his confident comments this week will have added to the flow of money."

The major news of the week as regards the Oaks market surrounded Ballydoyle bypassing the race following some abnormal bloods. Second favourite for the race, her withdrawal has naturally had an impact on those at the head of the market's prices, with favourite Minding the most impacted now [2.28] from [2.72].

Aidan O'Brien is now happy enough with her bloods but has decided she isn't ready for the Oaks test and she is now targeted at either Ascot's Coronation Stakes, where she is available at [3.9] in our antepost market compared to an industry 9/4, or the French Oaks. Skiffle has also now been officially supplemented following weeks of speculation, with her trainer Charlie Appleby suggesting Minding's underwhelming performance in the Irish 1000 Guineas made the race much more attractive. Originally backed at prices as high as [100.0] antepost she is now [8.0] in our market and the support suggests she is the main danger should Minding fail to perform.

The main mover in the Derby market has been Across The Stars, after being nibbled at all week he is now [27.0], in from [40.0]. You can't find a man who divides opinion much more than Kieran Fallon, but you would be a fool to write off a three time Derby winner and his confident comments this week will have added to the flow of money.

Fallon was full of praise with the most telling of his comments being 'He's tailor made for the Derby', and 'I wouldn't swap him for anything'. He also put up market principal US Army Ranger ([5.8]) as the main danger suggesting 'he has all the right qualities' and it would be no surprise for these two to at least fill place positions. The other selection of note is Red Verdon, with word being he will be supplemented in on Monday as long as he passes all the relevant health checks. Following the news he is now [27.0] from [34.0] and if he reproduces his Haydock performance of eight days ago he will go close.
