We're off to Windsor, Uttoxeter, and the Curragh for today's three Follow The Money selections...
We begin with a back recommendation on Dynamo in the 14.00 at Uttoxeter. He has been steadily backed from [6.0] into [4.9] clear second favourite, as he makes his return to national hunt racing for trainer Dan Skelton. He had a spell with Skelton previously, when failing to win over hurdles and fences during 2015. As his form had tailed off he was sent to the flat yard of Richard Hughes, where he has been rejuvenated and his handicap mark has risen from 46 to 61 on the back of two victories. He returns to hurdling a significantly better horse than before, and as such must surely go close in this maiden event.
Our each way selection comes in the 16.45 at Windsor. Despite being a competitive looking 10 runner handicap, there has been a stream of support all morning for Black Bess, forcing her price from a high of [11.0] into [7.0]. This is surely a reflection of underfoot conditions which have turned soft in recent days. Black Bess is a soft ground winner over seven furlongs already this season, and her latest effort when a third at Sandown represented a career best. Although stepping down to 6F is a possible concern, her proven stamina should be a valuable asset this afternoon in likely arduous conditions.
For our lay selection we travel across to the Curragh for the 17.25, a mile and three quarters Group 3 which sees a clash of the generations. Morning favourite is Sword Fighter, a tremendously brave winner of the Queens Vase at Royal Ascot last week under a brilliant ride. He was well backed at [3.2] during early exchanges, but his price has drifted out to [3.8] at the time of writing, and there seems to be sound reasons for such a move. Ryan Moore has decided to partner stable companion Landofhopeandglory instead (who incidentally finished behind Sword Fighter at Ascot), whilst he appeared to need every inch of the two mile trip at Ascot - so the shorter distance today might not play to his strengths. He also encounters a couple of useful older horses this afternoon, so a step up in the level of his form is probably needed in order to win again today, which will be a tough ask given his recent exertions at Royal Ascot.
