It's the final day of Chester's May meeting, and the Follow The Money team have three selections for you to consider...
Our each-way selection comes from the opener on the card at Chester, the seven furlong handicap, where Ice Slice has been extremely well supported having been trading at [11.0] early doors and can now be backed at [8.8]. Same jockey combination when winning here last year over course and distance, his last run could be seen as a prep run for this and has likely been set out for this race. We'll be hoping for a slice of luck in running for this gelding, and the market support is definitely worth noting in a field where there is plenty of value in the each-way market.
Our win selection comes in the wide open 15:00 Handicap, where Evergate has been very well supported in a depleted field. He's hit the post in the last few weeks a couple times and was due to run yesterday at the track in the 16:35 but has opted for this race instead which is interesting. Off bottom weight, and drawn well, we reckon Joe Fanning can get him off the mark today for his new trainer at current price of [4.7].
For our lay of the day, we head to the big race, the Ormonde Stakes at 15:35, where US Army Ranger has not exactly been strongly supported early doors. After a less than impressive debut this season, which could obviously be forgiven, the four-year-old will be looking to step up today and show his credentials after having promised so much last season, picking up the Chester Vase in the process. Although the stable has had a great festival so far, we are opposing the Ranger today due to the lack of market support and rain which is due to arrive, and are even going as far as place laying him at the current drifting price of [1.64].
