The markets have been reviewed, and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meeting at Cheltenham...
We get under way today with our lay selection, coming from the 14:15 Grade2 Cotswold Chase in Cheltenham. We've decided to take on the Colin Tizzard-trained 2015 Ryanair World Hurdle winner Thistlecrack, who hopes to cement his favouritism for this year's Gold Cup. He was matched earlier on the exchange at prices under 1.42/5 but he hasn't seen much support in the market since, with his price now hovering around 1.528/15 mark. It is felt that although he is the best horse in the race but there are a couple of potential caveats to consider today. The main worry has to be his jumping, he looked very worrying last time round Cheltenham and even in the King George he had a few hearts in mouths. He also has an extra furlong to cover today, in what could be testing ground. He has seemed to run on well in most his races but this will be tested for sure today with the last two winners of this race, Smad Place and Many Clouds lining up in the field.
Our each-way selection comes from the 14:50 Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase in Cheltenham. Enda Bolger has two good horses heading the market in the form of Cantlow and Auvergnat. The former is well known for his cross country prowess and will likely feature in the places if he gets around. Preference however is for the younger Auvergnat, who only finished 6 lengths behind the favourite back in November. He is a significant 13lbs better off today than he was to his stablemate that day, Rachel Blackmore's 5lb claim further enhances this advantage. He has seen strong support in the market this morning. Early prices of 9.417/2 have been taken by some shrewd punters but the 7year old is still readily available at a price of 6.05/1 and surely looks each-way value today.
We stay at Cheltenham for our back bet of the day, which comes in the 15:25, a promising looking Grade 2 Novices' Hurdle race. Our selection here is the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Wholestone, who has won three times this season, including twice here, and will hope to continue this trend today. His last race was a Grade 2 hurdle, which was ran over the longer 3miles here back in November . Punters have picked up on his fondness for the track and this has seen his early price of 7.26/1 cut into 5.59/2. This 6year old is a likely improver and with Daryl Jacob booked for the ride the Twiston-Davies yard will be hoping for a big performance today.
Lay Thistlecrack @ 1.528/15 in the 14:15 Cheltenham
Back Auvergnat each-way @ 6.05/1 in the 14:50 Cheltenham
